According to Jose Fernandez da Ponte, PayPal’s Senior VP, this LayerZero integration will provide PYUSD holders with added flexibility and a seamless transaction experience. Users can now transfer PYUSD assets between blockchains without relying on centralized exchanges, boosting convenience for self-custody users.

In terms of security, PYUSD transfers leverage a Distributed Validator Network (DVN) for added transaction verification. Verified by Paxos, Google Cloud, and LayerZero Labs, this framework establishes a robust, secure transaction layer.
PYUSD Growth Amid Competitive Market
Despite increased integration, PYUSD still trails larger stablecoins such as Tether (USDT) and USDC, whose market caps reach $118 billion and $35 billion, respectively. PayPal’s new CEO, Alex Chriss, is also focusing on strengthening business services and boosting profit margins, signaling a forward-looking approach for PYUSD's role in PayPal's broader strategy.
